Round 5 Podium
Summer 2010 Championship R5 – 7th August

Summer holidays depleted the entry for the fifth meeting of the current Junior club series, the bonus for those that were present was that each driver contested eight heats.

The overnight rain made for some tricky driving conditions in the early heats. Whilst some struggled to come to terms driving on a damp circuit with slick tyres, others excelled, no more so than Jay Rudd who dominated the early heats winning the first three in quick succession! Having finally been beaten in heat four, he returned to winning ways in heats five and seven which left him comfortably clear of his nearest rivals in the final points standings.

Robert Harrington finished second following two heat wins, Robert was not quite able to match the pace of his great rival Jay Rudd on this occasion. The surprise of the meeting was third place finisher Luke Battersby, Luke has only limited experience at Bayford but drove consistently throughout the morning with minimal mistakes and having won heat six convincingly, deserved his place on the podium.

Summer 2010 Championship R4 – 10th July

Joel Davis was the surprise winner of the fourth round of the current Junior club championship, Joel's victory came after four heat wins from six starts which left him two points clear of his nearest challengers.

Jay Rudd and William Heasman ended the meeting on equal points in 2nd place, the fastest lap was used to separate the championship rivals which went in Jay's favour.

Robert Harrington was classified in fourth with Andrew Graham in only his second Bayford meeting an impressive 5th place. Andrew’s performance netted him the special award.

The championship resumes on August 7th.

Summer 2010 Championship R3 – 12th June

William Heasman continued his domination of this Summers Junior Club with his third consecutive victory. It was far from plain sailing for William though and he was only sure of the overall win after a fine drive in heat 11, having come up against one of his championship rival Jay Rudd on no less than three occasions.

Three drivers tied on points for second place after some very exciting heats, so they had to be separated by heat wins and fastest laps. The runners up prize therefore went to Max Reed who impressed everybody with two heat wins during the morning. Jay Rudd took third place and Joel Davis fourth place, based on Jay having a faster lap!

Heat wins for Luke Battersby, Andrew Graham, Ellis Warren and Charlie Nash were noteable highlights of an excellent mornings racing. The championship resumes on July 10th.

Summer 2010 Championship R2 – 8th May

William Heasman was in sparkling form as he took his second successive victory of the current junior championship, four race wins in testing damp conditions left William comfortably clear of his nearest rivals.

Strong performances throughout the morning guaranteed Jay Rudd the runners up trophy to add to his growing collection. George McRae and Samuel Turner tied on points for third place, George took the place because of his one heat win, Samuel's consolation was the race directors special award.

The revelation of the morning was James Ryder who drove superbly throughout the morning, finishing fifth in points and was awarded the top novice award. Hopefully the next round in June will be blessed with more summer like conditions.

Summer 2010 Championship R1 – 10th April

With 2 heat wins, William Heasman came out on top at the opening round of the 2010 Summer Junior Club Championship. After the results of the twelve heats were calculated, William was declared the winner with a full 5 points clear of a trio of drivers who tied on 91 points! Race wins and fastest laps were used to determine the final podium order: Robert Harrington was the runner up from Ben Gridley in third position, Jay Rudd missed out on the silverware in fourth place on this occasion.

Rhys Archer, Max Read, Samuel Turner and George McRae were all heat winners during the morning in some very keenly contested races and the special award went to Max Read for his performance in heat 7.

The championship continues on the 8th May.

Winter Championship R4 – 6th March

Danny Hurlock added the Winter championship to his 09 Summer championship after victory at the final winter meeting. Ben Gridley tied on points with Danny after the heats but Danny's slightly faster lap left Ben with the runners up trophy.

Jay Rudd claimed the third place spot on the day with two heat wins. The surprise of the day was Charlie Nash, a superb win in heat four saw him claim the novice award. Four good drives from Samuel Turner saw him take the 'Cadbury' cup.

Focus now turns to the seven round Summer championship which commences on April 10th and the mix of new members anxious to prove themselves against the clubs established stars will make for another exciting series.

Winter Championship R3 – 13th February

Jay Rudd was the star of the Junior Clubs third meeting of the current series. Anxious to make up for missing the last round Jay was in superb form throughout the morning winning his first three heats, the most impressive of his successes saw him carve through the field from grid six.

Stephen Harrison claimed two heat wins on his way to second overal, this result keeping his championship hopes alive, whilst George McRae shot to the top of the Winter Championship standing following another excellent performance, he finished in the top two in all of his drives.

Ben Gridley picked up the Cadbury's award and Robert Harrington the Novice trophy. The final winter round takes place on the 6th March from 2pm – 5pm and by my calculation, any of the top seven drivers, including 2009 Summer Champion Danny Hurlock, are still in with a chance of the Winter Crown.

Winter Championship R2 – 12th December

Summer Champion Danny Hurlock mastered the difficult slippery conditions as he took three heat wins on his way to a convincing overal victory as the Junior club members contested the second round of their current winter series.

Danny now leads the championship standing with George McRae in second place after he took the runners up spot for the second month running.

George Salter revelled in the damp conditions, an impressive heat win helped him to third place overal. Chloe Chapman was the Cadbury winner and Max Reed won the novice prize on his Bayford debut.

The championship takes a winter break now before returning on February 13th.

Winter Championship R1 – 14th November

William Heasman was the star of the first round of the Junior clubs winter championship, William has made impressive progress over the last few months and his victory was not unexpected given the pace he has show in previous races and during practice sessions, his three heat wins and a third place finish left him comfortably clear of his nearest rivals.

George McRae also scored three heat wins as he took the runners up spot, in front of Summer Champion Danny Hurlock who was third. Jay Rudd was awarded the Cadbury’s prize whilst Harrison Fellows took the novice award for the second time.

Notable other performances included heat wins for youngsters Jake Spittle, Charlie Nash and Oscar Thorpe, all three drivers will no doubt look to build on their success at the next round on December 12th.
